Volunteer Information
Help In the Sanctuary
Taking care of the cats and the sanctuary is a fun and rewarding experience! You will be helping to provide a clean and safe environment for the cats and our sanctuary guests. If you love cats and enjoy cleaning, this may be the opportunity for you!
The sanctuary is in Roxbury, CT
You must be 18 or older with a driver's license and reliable transportation
You need to have a cell phone and email and use both for communicating with us
You will be cleaning and working inside and outside the sanctuary – scooping lots of litter boxes, sweeping and mopping floors, scrubbing walls, etc.
You'll need to be able to bend, reach and otherwise physically perform these tasks. You need to be able to lift a 20-pound bag of cat food.
If this describes you, we would love to have you apply!
Help At Fundraising Events
We need volunteers who can represent BDRF at food drives and other local events in the area
If you enjoy talking to people, this may be the opportunity for you! We set up tables outside of local grocery stores to collect food and supplies for the sanctuary. We also set up at local farmer's markets and other events to tell people about our cause.
Events are typically in towns around Roxbury, like Southbury, Woodbury, Watertown, New Milford, etc.
You must be 18 or older with a driver's license and reliable transportation
You need to have a cell phone and email and use both for communicating with us
You will be sitting and standing at a table, usually outdoors and under a tent.
You may need to help with set up and/or takedown of the table and materials we give away
You need to be outgoing, comfortable striking up conversations and encouraging people to donate or sign up for our mailing lists
Shifts are usually 3 or 4 hours and often on Saturday or Sunday
If this sounds like fun, we'd love to have you apply!
We accept applications year-round, but many of our events are outdoor and so slow down in the cold weather. Fill out an application and we will let you know when specific opportunities come up.
